BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

Dr. Navneet Atwal completed her psychiatry residency at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC. She completed a rotation in Psychosomatic Fellowship Training at Fairfax Hospital during her final year of residency, and she is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is licensed in Maryland and has been in full-time clinical practice for the past twelve years. 

Dr. Atwal has extensive experience treating our nation's uniformed service members at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. She has specialized training in complimentary and cutting-edge treatments like Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (Alpha Stim), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and Battlefield Acupuncture. 

I am Board Certified in Clinical Psychology, licensed in Maryland, and have a postdoctoral master's degree in Psychopharmacology. I was licensed as a Medical Psychologist in Louisiana 2013-2021, a state that allows psychologists with specialized training to prescribe medications.

Dr. Atwal is a highly trained and experienced psychiatrist who strongly believes in mind and body connection. She uses an integrated approach to treat her patients, combining conventional psychotropic medication management with collaboration with other specialists. Providing comprehensive mental health services and coordinating care with other health care providers and therapists is her style of practice. Her major goal is to help patients promote their personal growth and lead a healthy and happy life.
